I love my gadgets. I have a house full of em. I also like toys, so at my age that makes me a kidult. I have radio controlled planes (duhhh, like you didn’t know that), computers & networks for gaming online, hell, I even have a set of Lego Mindstorms, the robotic set for building my robots. So it’ll come as no surprise you that we’ve had Sky plus installed for ages. Isn’t it funny how the ability to pause live TV, or click a button and record an entire series – even when they shift the programme times around. It’s al become so … well, expected. It also allows recording of one channel whilst watching another, or if you’re really efficient, recording two programmes whilst watching a third previously recorded on the hard drive. The problem with technology, especially technology that actually does what it says is than none technologists can get hold of it; you know, those noobs who didn’t pass their VCR programming exams. … And that’s the problem. So now we have programming clashes, my beautifully scheduled, hand crafted TV recording schedule that was so well tucked out of the way that mere mortals couldn’t interfere with it is ruined. Seems my ‘other’ family members (and I’m referring to the females in the house) want to record their crap on MY sky plus box. When the phrase ‘RECORDING CLASH’ appears on the screen, they are dab hand at hitting the delete button and binning my schedule. Then there’s the peak hours viewing. That would be evenings from 17:00 till 22:00. I now have no chance. It’s like “take a ticket, we were here first”. So Sky, how ya gonna sort this out? Do I need to buy another box just for me? What if “the females” discover it? They’ll paint it pink and stick daises on that as well? I’m screwed. … And that’s why I get so much time to write a blog. I no longer watch TV.
