I had been watching some small birds continually flying around my garage door for some days before I realised that something was going on. It was only when I realised these were Spotted Flycatchers that I realised the nesting pair that were at the rear of the house last year had returned. I wanted to get some photos of these little birds for the last year or so, and I remembered saying to myself that I must make the effort when they return. It appears that I was looking in the wrong place and they had migrated to a dead hanging basket above the garage door. A quick peak inside from a step ladder revealed 5 tiny speckled eggs buried in a tiny nest precariously hanging from the loose nail that supported the basket complete with small confer. I checked on various web sites and it turns out that these birds are in decline, so I just had to get some photos. Well I’ve been following these birds almost daily for the last three and a half weeks now and the five chicks are getting ready to fledge. As soon as this happens, ill post up a stack of pictures.
