Beautiful 3” scale traction engine built by Ron Scholfield in Leigh. Owned and operated by Mike Chatman here in Kelsall this superb machine was photographed ticking away quietly. Bessie took some 9 years to complete and was only run on compressed air by Ron initially. Mike acquired Bessie in 2004.

This has been built to 6" scale by David Bennion (from Newport) over two years and was completed in 2005. David built this from his own drawn plans. The machine weighs some 1600 cwt. David can be contacted by email
