I'm currently evaluating Vimeo as an online video source so I thought I would make some test presentations to gather opinion. The older method was to place a link to a YouTube video inside a pop up frame; however I seem to prefer the embedded approach that Vimeo allows me to take. I also think that Vimeo offers a much higher quality that YouTube. What do you think?
Built by it's owner Brian Davis from a Billings kit some two years ago. She took some five months to complete. During construction Brian disliked making the railings as there were just so many of them. He has made many upgrades to the standard fittings including the brass railings and bollards. With such a fine attention to detail, this ship looks excellent on and off the water.
This represents my second attempt at boat cam video on board the Kyosho Seawind yacht at the Runcorn Heath Lake. The wind was quite strong and according to the BBC weather forecast around some 29 MPH, however being surrounded by big trees on the Runcorn lake seems to make the wind swirl and gust in turbulent form seemingly from all directions at the same time. At one point the yacht porpoised under water completely submerging the deck and soaking the camera. Hope you enjoy the video.

This delightful model yacht was converted to a junk with the addition of this sail added by its owner Owen Driver. After reading a book "Junk Rig" Owen was inspired to create and add the Junk sail which provides quite a distinctive look on the lake.
Strapped to a Kyosho Seawind yacht this video was shot on the Runcorn boating lake on 13th July 2008. It’s my first attempt attaching the video camera to a boat.
Not much adrenaline required to watch it as it was pretty much flat calm on the day. At least we’ve proven the technology. Now to find some more interesting sites …
Had a little trip out to see those people who sail with the Runcorn and District Scale Model Boat Club over in Runcorn. What an enjoyable few hours. I seemed to spend at least an hour sailing someone else's yacht. Really enjoyed myself. Anyhow, here are a few photos from the day. Anyone interested in contacting the club can find their web site here.
Another visit to the boat club a week later (Sunday 15th June) brought some more photos of these two delightful steam powered craft.
A collection of images of my Kyosho Seabreeze on it's maiden voyage. Can't wait for 'proper' sailing weather and decent winds. I'll attach the video camera next week from some 'in water' video footage.
Britannia: Another fine ship by Jon Grundy. This pilot vessel was build from a Mountfleet kit and took around one year to complete. Powered by a 6 volt 4Ah battery, this gives Jon a good afternoons sailing.
Check out the picture gallery for this superb ship. There's loads of detail on the bow anchor, bow winch and rear life boat. There's also plenty of images from inside the hull.
The Spirit of Padstow is the first of the new ‘Tamar’ class of life boat. This excellent example was scratch built by Antony Still. After 18 months the ship is ready to hit the waters of the boating lake in Runcorn. This model has working lights, working emergency light and working radar, all powered by a separate 1.5 volt battery nestled within the hull (see images for details of this). These photographs were taken two weeks after completion and she can be seen motoring around under Antony’s keen control.
Powered by a twin motor set up, each with dedicated speed controller and fused wiring assembly. Antony’s attention to detail is as keen inside the hull as outside. She sits in the water beautifully and performs as she should;- with plenty of power and authority.
The stern just below the transom can be electronically lowered and an internal life boat launched. This little life boat is also radio controlled and represents another example of Antony’s fine detailing.
