The Spirit of Padstow is the first of the new ‘Tamar’ class of life boat. This excellent example was scratch built by Antony Still. After 18 months the ship is ready to hit the waters of the boating lake in Runcorn. This model has working lights, working emergency light and working radar, all powered by a separate 1.5 volt battery nestled within the hull (see images for details of this). These photographs were taken two weeks after completion and she can be seen motoring around under Antony’s keen control.

Powered by a twin motor set up, each with dedicated speed controller and fused wiring assembly. Antony’s attention to detail is as keen inside the hull as outside. She sits in the water beautifully and performs as she should;- with plenty of power and authority.

The stern just below the transom can be electronically lowered and an internal life boat launched. This little life boat is also radio controlled and represents another example of Antony’s fine detailing.
